Westco's First Order - June 18, 1956
Here is a picture of Westco's first order.
1956
Joseph West left the Public Relations Department at General Mills to start a company in his home that he named "Westco, Inc. Recognition Advertising." Even then he knew that this industry was not simply "Widgets" or "Gimmicks". To Joe, it was all about solving problems for clients, friends, family and sometimes the President of the United States (that's another story). It did not make any difference to him if you were Hardware Hank in Pine River, Minnesota or IBM in Rochester, Minnesota. We bring some of his enthusiasm to work everyday.
1973
Patrick Craig, Joseph West's son-in-law, left his job at Pharmacia Laboratories to head up Westco. (Are you seeing a pattern here? People leaving highly successful companies to become involved with this industry.) While these two people had completely different personalities, their sense of customer commitment was the same. Pat treated the Riviera Supper Club in Chanhassen, Minnesota the same as Schwan's Foods in Marshall Minnesota. If you can make half as many people smile in your lifetime as Pat did - you should consider it a success.
1983 - TODAY
Craig's son, Tim now heads the growing company - and following in the Westco Commitment Tradition, he promises to bring enthusiasm to the promotional projects of new companies such as Custom Home Integration and established businesses such as Hormel foods.
SMILE
Pat would like that!
